well i watched the schapelle documentary this week and i've got to say, it
puts a different complexion on the case. fair enough, the girl's been hard done by. she's gotten worse treatment than the bali bombers. but let's face it, every time someone upturned a stone in her life, out popped more and more drug connections. the photos of her and that mid-level drug trafficker from adelaide are a bit rich to swallow as a coincidence. how many of us have photos smiling with our arms around drug trafficers? not me, that's for sure. i think we've been conned. the figures they showed where 9/10 aussies believed she was innocent - well i hope they didn't broadcast those in indonesia. it's a bit embarassing. anyway peace out people! let's hope that for all her misadventures, she pulls through and maybe comes home to pay her dues in an aussie prison. |

Don't feel too sorry for this girl. Her family is well known to Aust Customs. I have a connection with Customs through a friend and they've been watching the whole family for a long time. Schapelle is just the unlucky one who got caught. The polls may have shown that Aussies thought she was innocent back when she was first convicted, but I think they'd show a very different picture now. Most people I know think she is guilty, especially after seeing what trash her family is. She doesn't deserve to be brought home to serve out her time in a cushy Aussie prison. She knew the laws of the country she was going into. She's just lucky she didn't get the death penalty.

It is admirable for you to support her and I hope you continue that support, but I actually prefer to believe the information I have been given by the sister of a very close friend of mine, who is in an operational mangement position in Australian Customs. I won't repeat what she has told me, and she is not even able to repeat a lot of what she knows, but all I'll say is that Schapelle isn't the innocent little wide eyed girl she likes people to think she is and Customs have been watching the entire family for quite a long time.

well the way they turned on Ron Bakir was pretty brutal. Ron paid a load of their legal fees. maybe he was trying to lift his public profile, but they accepted his help. then they stabbed him in the back the minute the conviction was given.
what really got me was that Ron said to schapelle "you'll have plenty of opportunity to repay me when you're back in australia" and they turned that into him claiming he was trying to profit from them. her only defence, the baggage handlers, was exposed as a fabrication. |

Well, at the moment that does appear to be heresay and I'm sure the Corby's will come out with statements to refute it. Seeing as Mick Corby is dead, it will be hard to substantiate it unless he has evidence to back up his claims.
Having said that, it does appear to corroborate the information my friend in Australian Customs told me that the Corby's are well known to them. So yes there is a lot more to this story than we already know, and it doesn't appear to be good. I think it is entirely possible that she really didn't know what was in the bag, but she certainly knows about her family's involvement, and if she didn't want any involvement herself, she should have been more careful. On the other hand she may have been perfectly aware of what was in the bag and is just trying to play the helpless girl with the big teary eyes. |

i believe that the fact she pointedly took the bag off her brother and declared ownership of it, when the indonesian immigration officer asked for it, suggests that she was responsible for its contents.
if say my girlfriend was carrying my boogie board and was asked to open it in similar circumstances, i'd let her. but then, i know there'd be nothing illicit inside. apparently the latest claims are a bit suspect, according to the papers. Last edited by marty : 07-05-2008 at 06:19 PM. |

They said on the news tonight that if these claims can be proven it could be her ticket out of Bali, which I don't understand. If her family's involvement in the drug trade can be proven, that would seem to make her look even worse.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mick Corby wasn't travelling with her when she was arrested was he? So how could they then say that they must have been his drugs not hers? I don't understand that part. Also, if it is proven, then all the family's bleatings about not knowing anything about drugs at all would seem a bit null and void. |
